[SOLVED]Ubuntu One Issue on Windows

Email to Ubuntu One Support:

“I cannot sign in using existing account, when I enter sign in details, it shows authentication failure, I’m certain the information I entered is 100% correct, moreover when I click on the ‘forgot password’ link, and enter my email ID, it says  ‘Sorry we did not recognize the email address’ "

Got reply in a day and Ubuntu One started syncing:

Hi,

This issue is likely due to a strange SSL certificate problem. The certificate you need is http://www.valicert.com/ and it appears for some reason your computer does not have this certificate, which is causing the Ubuntu One client refuse the certificate.

Can you first try the following steps:

1. Go to https://one.ubuntu.com/ using Internet Explorer 2. Restart your computer 3. Install Ubuntu One again

If that doesn’t work, please follow the steps below:

1. Open the Windows Control Panel 2. Click on “Internet Options” 3. Click the “Content” tab & then the “Clear SSL state” button 4. Click the “Certificates” button 5. Make sure the “Intended purpose” drop down is set to “All” 6. Click on the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” tab 7. Make sure there is an entry for http://www.valicert.com/ there & if there is not, please do the following: 7.1 Save this certificate to your Desktop: https://certs.godaddy.com/anonymous/repository.seam;jsessionid=81EMxaZCPZpCSnhYSGLtKw __.s2p02jb? streamfilename=valicert_class2_root.crt&actionMethod=anonymous%2Frepository.xhtml%3Arepo sitory.streamFile%28%27%27%29&cid=52363 7.2 Click the “Import” button in the “Certificates” window 7.3 Click the “Next” button and then click the “Browse” button and select the valicert file on your desktop 7.4 Click the “Next” button until you get to the end and then click the “Finish” button 8. Reboot your computer 9. Try to setup Ubuntu One again

Thanks,

Chase Livingston
