Here are 9 reference designs that can help you in becoming a better PCB designer. None of the below are any affiliations, these are the boards I’ve collected over a course of time.
ESP32 with 4G boards for you next IoT project. I like these because they have 4G connectivity
28pins and iMX rex board by Robert Feranac, they have amazing documentation
nRF52 reference designs these are great as these design are used in production of their development kits.
- nRF52 remote is a BT remote to build off of.
- nRF52 desktop ( includes design files for keyboard, mouse and dongle)
- nRF9160 development kit for NB-IoT designs
- Thingy 52 - On how to use battery management for these IoT projects.
Olimex - Great open source board designed with KiCAD.
DeplthAI hardware - for vision related projects. most designs use intel ai module, you cannot replicate the designs but a good resource to learn about how CSI interconnects are laid out.
- LimeSDR - Great board to learn about RF
- Ubertooth one - Bluetooth experiments
Toradex Reference design board- This company sells SoMs Their reference design are good for high speed interconnects
Smart watches
- Hexiwear - smart watch design, good for looking for techniques on how to make a compact design.
- Watchy - Watch with E-paper display.
CM4 reference boards
- Retro-Lite-CM4 - Great project with a finished product.
- QWAVE_Raspberry-Pi-CM4-Altium-Library for designing CM4 based carrier boards in Altium
